Final Results
LAKE WORTH, Fla. — The Lady Gyrene golf team finished ninth at the Sun Conference Women's Golf Championship on Monday. The Blue and Green fired a day three score of 403 to finish the tournament at 1199.
Sarah Notaro finished tied for 31st place after a final round 92 to conclude the tournament with a 54-hole score of 266. Anna Nycum finished at 306 after a final round of 100.
Valerie Bertuccelli (307) and Markelle Gatelely (320) rounded out the scoring for the Blue and Green.
Top-ranked Northwood pulled away for a 12-shot victory and freshman Elsa Westin claimed the individual title for the Seahawks.
The Seahawks posted a final-round score of 295 at Fountains Country Club to finish the 54-hole event at 7-over-par 886, 12 shots clear of No. 2 SCAD Savannah. Westin shot 4-over 76 in the final round to finish at 2-over for the tournament and edge SCAD's Alazne Urizar by one shot. Northwood's Caroline Retabi (+4), SCAD's Sofia Molinaro (+6) and Northwood's Rebecka Holmstrom and Sabrina Schloo (+10) rounded out the top five.
No. 6 USC Beaufort (964) finished third, followed by No. 17 Thomas (984), No. 15 Embry-Riddle (995), Webber International (1006) and No. 22 Southeastern (1009). Warner (1061) and Ave Maria (1199) rounded out the field.
The Seahawks earn an automatic berth in the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship to be played May 12-15 at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga., joining host SCAD in the field. The rest of the teams now await the announcement of the at-large teams.
